Connecting… when was the last time you connected with a new friend? Met someone who shared your goals… Supported you in reaching for your dreams?

When I launched the SKFitLife Challenge in January 2012, one of my primary goals was to connect other women so that they could give and receive support during their fitness journey which is a very important factor in successfully changing lifestyles and habits. I knew these women would have a cumulative wealth of knowledge and that through sharing this knowledge, we would ALL benefit from it.IMG_3130[1]

The love and support that is given and received within the SKFitLife community has reached far beyond where I originally thought it would reach and I am so excited to see each new connection.

I recently moved back to Charleston, South Carolina where I have connected with local clients to not only workout, talk nutrition, and hang out but I have been introduced to new ways to support our local community.

One of my clients (and now good friend), Lisa Izzo, and I attended an early morning running club event to honor the life and to support the parents of a little boy, Peyton. Peyton was just 9 years old and enjoyed running with the group… encouraging the members… and telling them they could DO IT. Peyton was the son of the Couch to 5K running group’s coach, Noah Moore. You can find more information on this running group at www.mooreonrunning.com.

The phrase, “Because I Can” had a very special meaning that day… Our SKFitLife shirts have the words; “Because I Can” written on the backs to remind us that working out is not something that is a chore or something to be dreaded. The abilities to work out and eat well are privileges and we should be grateful for the opportunity to care for our bodies.

Throughout the past year, I have been inspired by the love and support through the SKFitLife community and I hope to become even more involved in local events. I feel so blessed for the opportunity to create an environment where lasting relationships are formed and for the chance to do things together and to give back in a variety of ways.

Thank YOU all for being a daily inspiration to me and those around you. If you would like to become a part of the SKFitLife community, there are a variety of ways… through joining a 12-Week SKFitLife Challenge, following along with our Stephanie Keenan FitLife Facebook Fan Page, following StephKeenanFit on Twitter, and through Instagram.
