A surprisingly large number of people appear to have problems with excessive sweating. As common as this problem is, it’s not often discussed in public, and people who suffer from excessive sweating usually feel too embarrassed to talk openly about it. In addition to feeling embarrassed, people lose confidence easily and their self-esteem levels are low. Heavy sweating or hyperhidrosis can be caused by a number of things, and we have put together a list of things you can do to stop it once and for all.

Sit back and relax

In most cases, excessive sweating is caused when you are in a state of mental and/or emotional strain and suspense. A nervous strain is a result of mental stress, and in addition to feeling bad, you will probably start sweating a lot too. If this happens to you often, perhaps it’s time to try to find a way to relax and calm down in stressful situations. Taking a five-minute break at work will do wonders you’re your psyche, it will help you calm down and see the problem you’re struggling with in a different way. Try to read a book, make yourself a cup of chamomile tea, listen to your favorite song, close your eyes and count to hundred, or try simple and easy breathing meditation. After that, you will feel much calmer, and you will be able to carry on with your work. We promise you’ll notice that your shirt is finally dry under the armpits.

Choose the right antiperspirant

When it comes to choosing an antiperspirant, be mindful of the following: stronger isn’t necessarily better. While it seems logical that an ‘aggressive’ antiperspirant will help you keep sweating under control, it will just clog your pores. While this might help at first, it will also cause the toxins your sweat carries to stay inside your body. Instead of using aggressive products, try to find the one that’s made of natural ingredients which will control the sweating and not trying to prevent it. Natural deodorants use baking soda and beeswax, and while they don’t give the same results, they’re much healthier for you.

Try Botox

Even though Botox is usually connected to wrinkle treatments, it can also be used to help people with hyperhidrosis. People who don’t seem to be able to stop sweating even when they use prescription antiperspirants find that Botox injections usually help. You can schedule a botox treatment in an aesthetic clinic and talk to a specialist about the details. Keep in mind that injections are not a permanent solution and that the results last for about 6 months. If needed, the treatment can be repeated periodically, and you don’t have to worry about the chemicals since the solution used in injections is highly diluted.

Wear clothes made of natural materials
Wear clothes made of natural materials

Always try to buy clothes that are made of light and breathable fabrics such as cotton or silk. These materials will protect your skin and allow it to breathe. Linen, cotton, silk, and bamboo are the best because they are natural and allow your skin to breathe freely. Of course, if you’re working out, natural materials are a bad idea and you should focus on synthetics instead because these will dry much faster. Also, you can try using underarm guards to prevent underarm sweat stains from appearing.

Always bring an extra shirt

Speaking of clothes, you should always keep a spare shirt close by. You don’t have to carry it in your bag all day, but keeping a clean shirt in your office will help you tremendously. If you know you are sweating a lot, simply pack the shirt you actually want to wear to the office, and put it on when you get there. You never know how hot it can get, especially in summer, and when you step into a cool room with an air conditioner after spending some time in a stuffy car, not only will you sweat heavily, but you’ll also catch a cold. A spare shirt will help you avoid that, so always have at least one ready.

Use baby powder

If you need something to absorb the extra moisture, you can always use good old baby powder. Still, keep in mind that some products may contain aluminum, and this is bad for our central nervous system. If you’re concerned about this, try to find organic baby powder instead. On the other hand, baby products are usually gentle and mild, designed for sensitive baby skin, so you should be fine. With baby powder, your skin will feel smooth and dry, and best of all, this is perfect if your feet are sweaty and you’re planning on wearing flats or sandals.

It doesn’t matter if you sweat because of the heat, or if that’s how your body reacts to stress, if you don’t feel good about yourself because of this problem it’s high time you do something about it. Fortunately for all, it can often be easily solved if you follow our advice. However, keep in mind that excessive sweating can sometimes be a symptom of a more serious health issue, and if you suspect this to be the case, visit a doctor as soon as possible.
