Every moment of every day we get to make choices.

If we want different results, we have to make different choices. When you break it down to individual choices, reaching your goal isn’t nearly as challenging. Think about the one area of your life where you just freaking rock… Your career, your family, your finances, your social circle… And think about what you did and consistently do in that area to keep rocking. Now apply those guiding principles to your health… Example: your “I freaking rock” zone may be in parenting. What’s required for good parenting?

  • being consistent
  • doing what you don’t feel like doing because it needs to be done
  • cutting out all the stuff that isn’t working and getting down to the things that really work
  • being patient
  • doing the best you can because that’s all we can ever do
  • refining your skills
  • being consistent (this isn’t a typo by the way)

I know I don’t have kids but this is true on a smaller scale for being a parent of a dog… If Cozmo has bad behavior it’s not because he is a bad dog, it’s because I have been inconsistent in my expectations and discipline.

Let’s make 2015 your best year yet with consistently doing the basics. Back to that parenting example… You wouldn’t abandon fundamentals like routines and bedtimes for some flashy quick-tips in a magazine would you? Don’t do it with your health either and you will actually reach your goals.
